David Gene Burton

David Gene Burton, 71, of Campbellsville, KY died Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on June 9, 1951 in Columbia, KY to the late Luther and Agnes Marie DeHart Burton.

David attended Freedom Baptist Church in Campbellsville, KY and formerly worked at Ingersoll Rand for 21 years before becoming the owner and operator of Body Tan and Dave’s Storage in Campbellsville.  He was very devoted to his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Janet Elaine Goodin Burton of Campbellsville, KY; two children Paul Burton (Gretchen) and Jennifer Gabehart (Paul) both of Campbellsville, KY; two grandchildren Wesley and Olivia Burton; six siblings Larry Michael Burton (Angie) of North Vernon, IN, Gregory Joseph Burton (Peggy) of Seymour, IN, James Allen Burton of Bedford, KY, Brenda Ann Burton Kirksey (Steve) of Paris TN, Robert Dale Burton (Mary) and Ramona Sue Jackson both of Campbellsville, KY;  sisters-in-law Katy Burton of North Vernon, IN, Vickie Milby of Summersville, KY, Sharon Melton (Chuck) of Campbellsville, KY, Beverly Powell (Dave) of Columbia, KY, Rebecca Wood (Guy) of Campbellsville, KY; 28 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Albert, Alford and Alvin Burton and four brothers-in-law Gary Milby, Bobby Pierce, Ronald Goodin and Rufus Goodin.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Bearwallow Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue on Tuesday morning at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Bro. David Coffey and Bro. Jay Barnett will be officiating and pallbearers will be Larry Burton, Paul Burton, Wesley Burton, Kelly Burton, Guy Wood and Steve Melton.  Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
