Junior Gilpin, 87, of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, April 2, 2023, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY with his family by his side. He was born in Columbia, KY on July 4, 1935, to the late Arthur Bryant and Mattie May Mann Gilpin.
Mr. Gilpin attended Summer Shade Methodist Church and was a member of the Fry Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; he retired from the Kentucky highway department and former school bus driver.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis Tweedy Gilpin of Columbia, KY; five children Brenda Bennett (Nathan), Sharon Pickett (Mark), Mark Gilpin (Barbara), Melissa Karnes (Rodney), and Anthony Gilpin (Brittany) all of Columbia, KY; six grandchildren Josh Bennett (Ashley), Matt Pickett, Peyton Hurst (Randy), Riley Keltner, Kacie Burton (Tyler) and Mason Karnes; great grandchildren Kayden, Kaylence, and Kobie Bennett, Kaylie and Tripp Hurst, and Hayden Burton; a sister-in-law Thelma Gilpin and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings Clarice Ashby, Ethel Long, Haden Gilpin, Jimmy Gilpin, Bud Gilpin, and Sarah Gilpin.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:30pm-8:00pm and will continue on Thursday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Bro. Rodney Karnes and Rev. William R. Davenport will be officiating and pallbearers will be Chris Maurath, Curtis Grant, Jimmy Harmon, Colton Downey, Dewayne VanArsdale, and Gerthie Gentry.
