Bernard “R. B.” Janes, 96, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. He was born in Columbia, KY on December 27, 1924 to the late Freeman and Leora Hamilton Janes. He was preceded in death by his wife LV Sexton Janes.
Mr. Janes was a member of the Milltown Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy. He was a farmer and enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and playing Rook.
Survivors include a daughter Ann Janes Dunbar (Billy) of Russell Springs, KY; four grandchildren Stacey Coffey (Darrell) of Columbia, KY, Kelly Eaton (Dallas) of Glasgow, KY, Holli Kitchen (David) of Mt. Juliet, TN and Casey Clanton (Daniel) of Charleston, TN; thirteen great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother Russell Janes (Nancy) of Louisville, KY and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son Richie Janes and three sisters Chloristeen Hrastinski, Edra Kelsey and Orilla Stone.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00am Thursday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Bro. Barney Taylor will be officiating and pallbearers will be Wally Burris, Glen Breeding, Chuck Rogers, Timmy Young, Andrew Coffey and Wesley Young.
