Obituary

Mr. Willard Cheatham passed away on August 1, 2011 at Jane Todd Crawford Memorial

Hospital in Greensburg. Mr. Cheatham was born on January 21, 1923 in the Bliss

Community to the late George and Julia Price Cheatham. He grew up on the family farm

in Milltown. He married Naomi English on January 10, 1942.

He is survived by his wife Naomi, his daughter Charlotte and her husband Howard

Krauss and his daughter Betsy Stotts; Four grandchildren, John Krauss and his wife

Betsy, Sally Weber and her husband Tom, Dr. Alison Curtsinger and her husband Dr.

Stewart Curtsinger, and Adam Stotts; Six great grandchildren, Jenna and Palmer Krauss,

Thomas and Colton Weber, and Garrett and Mason Curtsinger. He is also survived by

siblings Maurice Cheatham of Columbia, Julia Breeding of Greensburg, Nell Vaughn of

Campbellsville and several nieces and nephews

Mr. Cheatham owned and operated the Columbia Gulf Service Station for 42 years. He

was a member of the Columbia Christian Church for over 70 years where he served as a

deacon, kept the vans in good working order and scheduled drivers for the van.

He enjoyed growing flowers, vegetables and working in the yard. He was an avid UK

basketball fan and enjoyed traveling to new places. He especially enjoyed traveling with

his children and grandchildren to visit numerous parts of the country. He is fondly

remembered by his family and friends for his kindness and generosity.

A private service was held, officiated by Bro. Michael Crowe, Stotts-phelps-McQueary

Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements
