Sam Bingham Holmes, 94, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.  He was born on May 27, 1927 in Columbia, KY to the late Leslie and Clarice Goodin Holmes.  He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Allene McKinney Holmes.

Mr. Holmes was a member of the New Life for the Nations Church, a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Air Force and a 25 year member of the Kiwanis Club in Jeffersonville, IN.  Sam enjoyed riding across the country on his motorcycle with his wife before her death in 2013.  He also enjoyed fishing and helping others in need.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three siblings Tom Holmes, Russell Holmes and Elizabeth Burton.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 6097.  Visitation will be on Sunday after 11:00am at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
