Richard Dowell Smith, 78, of Mt. Washington, KY died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.  He was born in Adair County on October 4, 1942 to the late Richard P. Smith and Pearl Giles Arnold.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Adair County High School and was retired from the U. S. Navy after serving 20 years.

Survivors include his wife Margie Coomer Smith of Mt. Washington, KY; a sister Lisa Brenzel of Elizabethtown, KY; two brothers Larry Cave of Louisville, KY and Harry Lee Arnold of LaGrange, KY; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew John T. Coomer and his wife Susan of Louisville, KY.

Mr. Smith chose cremation and no services are scheduled at this time.  Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
