Nellie Dee Cole Jessee, age 93 years 7 months & 14 days a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home formerly of White Oak Church Road, Columbia, Ky. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at 10:50 P. M. at the Nursing Home
She was born on Tuesday, June 3, 1913 to Randell Lawrence Cole & Polly Moore Cole. She was married to Marvin Garnett "Short" Jessee on Dec. 16, 1933 & was preceded in death on Oct. 21, 1997.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Charles Randell Jessee & his wife Carolyn Jean of Louisville, Ky. & Gene Jessee & his wife LaVerne of Columbia, Ky., 2 Grandchildren: Gregory Gene Jessee & his wife Lee Ann and Michelle Jessee Vincent & her husband Jeff, 2 Great Grandchildren: Parker & Sophia Vincent, several Nieces, Nephews, friends & church family
She was preceded in death by the following: a infant son: Wendell Jessee,
Brothers: Walter, Felix, Allen & Lawrence Cole, sisters: Opal Estes & Bea Taylor
Mrs. Jessee professed faith in Christ at an early age, was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church, graduated from Columbia High School, Lindsey Wilson College & Eastern Kentucky University. She spent over 41 years of her life as a teacher in the Adair County Public School System, many of those years teaching in one-room schools. They included, Flat Rock, Nell, Morris' Chapel, Keltner, Oak Grove, Rainfall and Col. William Casey. Many of her students have gone on to become professionals in their fields, but most importantly, many have become parents of good moral character and high values dedicated to passing those characteristics on to their children & grandchildren.
