Mary Ritchey Bennett, 87, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at 11:45 PM at Signature Summit Manor Nursing Home after several months illness.

She was the daughter of the late John D. Lowe Jr. and Aileen Ritchey Lowe.  She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Blair Bennett on December 11, 1987, one brother John D. Lowe III and two sisters Nancy Sims and Elizabeth Whitfield.

She is survived by two sons Dr. John B. Bennett and wife Vickie of Bell Buckle, Tennessee and James E. "Jimmy" Bennett and wife Patricia of Columbia, KY;

Three grandchildren Amanda Miller (Travis), Adam Bennett and Mary Bennett;

Three step grandchildren Aaron Stafford, Rachel Murray and Fancy Melton;

One great grandchild Molly Miller and one step great grandchild Maxwell Stafford;

Also survived by a host of other friends and relatives.

Mary Ritchey was a lifelong member of the Columbia Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She had worked at Taylor County RECC, Adair County ASCS and the Payless Deli for many years.  She was loved by three generations of young people she taught and baby sat.  She was widely known for her friendly personality and her love for other people.

Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Columbia Cemetery.  Visitation will be after 3:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
