LORRAINE PARKS age 96 of Chicago, Illinois formerly of the Crocus Communty in Russell County passed away on November 17, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois

She was born in the Crocus Community the daughter of the late Rev. Lucian Jones of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Crocus, KY and Margaret Stone Jones , she was the seventh of twelve children. She graduated from Jackman High School in Columbia, Ky class of 1939 and Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY where she earned two Bachelor's Degrees in Education class of 1944. She was an educator in the Chicago Public Schools, she also owned Hurd's Cleaners for years she ran multiple locations until 1979. She was a member of many organizations, Eastern Star, The Nous Sevon Club, the Goodwill Club, St. Bernard, Little Company of Mary, Larabida Children's Hospital, Salvation Army. She joined Saint John Baptist Church in 1950 and continued serving the Lord there the rest of her days.

Survived by one son: Herschel Hurd Jr.

Grandchildren: Cordell Cherry Jr. Marcus Breaux, Sonya Breaux, Sharon Miles, Michael Cherry, Anthony Cherry, Zeobia Hurd, Shonny Pickens, Terry Johnson, Eden Hurd, Tony Hughs, Ptnny Herd and host of great grandchildren.

Funeral service: Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 12 Noon at the First Baptist Church 847 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY

Interment in the Stone-Jones Cemetery on Loren Collins Road, Crocus, KY
