She was born on Jan. 1, 1919 in Somerset, KY

the daughter of the late Robert & Mary Anderson Pettyjohn

She was married to Clifford Carter who preceded her in death on

January 21, 1973 and later married Charles Shaffer who preceded

her in death on July 12, 2002,

also preceded in death by 4 Grandchildren

She is survived by four daughters:

Edna Davis of Columbia, KY

Carolyn (Kelly) Hamlett of Columbia, KY

Mary (Lewis) Stargel of Russell Springs, KY

Nancy (Jerry) Burton of Columbia, KY

Step-children Jim Shaffer of ILL. & Ruth Compton of Missouri

9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great Great Grandchildren

also surviving are several nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives &

friends survive

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church & a homemaker

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements
