Lawrence Malcolm Rich, aged 88, of Columbia, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born on October 30, 1937, in Pellyton, KY, Lawrence lived a full and meaningful life, deeply rooted in his community and cherished by his loved ones.

Throughout his years, Lawrence was known for his passionate support of the University of Kentucky basketball team. He was also a dedicated fan of horse racing and enjoyed watching the classic television series Gunsmoke, interests that reflected his appreciation for tradition and storytelling.

Lawrence's spiritual life was centered in the Barnett's Creek Community Church, where he was a proud and active member. His faith and commitment to his church community were among his greatest accomplishments, guiding his values and his interactions with others.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Beard Rich, who stood by his side throughout their life together. Their family includes their son, Barry Keith Rich, and his wife Jeanetta of Cincinnati, Ohio. A grandchild, Barry Gene Rich (Christine) and a great-grandchild Grayson Lee Benjamin Rich. His family circle extends to two siblings, Stanley Rich and Radine Rich, both residing in Columbia, KY, and several nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, O.L. Rich and Martha Ether Sapp Rich, and by his siblings Audie Rich, Pina Lee Pyles, Jewell Dick, Hilda Davidson, Nadine Giles, Evelyn Bolt, Zella B. Cundiff, Herbert Rich, Dennis Rich, and James Rich.

In honoring Mr. Rich's wishes cremation was chosen and a celebration of life service will be held later at the Barnett's Creek Community Church.
