IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Walker
Curry
March 19, 1934 – May 2, 2025
Kenneth Walker Curry, 91, of LaGrange, KY passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Columbia, KY on March 19, 1934, to the late Avert Renus and Fannie Lou Corbin Curry.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Jean Smallwood Curry, a great grandson Jason "Jay" Laine Edward Richardson, and three siblings Raymond E. "Pete" Curry and his wife Doretta, Ralph Gilbert Curry and his wife Helen, and Clifton Marshall Curry, and a brother-in-law Charles Sidney Helm.
Survivors include two children Kenda Jean Curry Shinault of LaGrange, KY and Roger Dale Curry of Louisville, KY; a granddaughter Tiffany Elaine Dunaway (Jason); two great grandchildren Brynna Dylaine Richardson (Jackson) and Ivy Jean Curry; two great great grandchildren Josef and Mia Mason; a brother Lewis Curry (JoAnn) of Columbia, KY; twin sisters Beulah Carter (Stanley) and Eula Helm both of Columbia, KY; a sister-in-law Marie Curry of Louisville, Ky and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Curry attended Buckner Baptist Church in Buckner, KY and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was devoted to God and his wife of 61 years; he was a simple man who absolutely cherished his family, siblings and friends. He loved to talk and tell stories, and he was kind to all. Over the years, he built many beautiful homes. At heart, he was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic, builder, tree cutter and problem solver. He was "old school" in that he would fix it before buying something new. Each spring he loved plowing his garden to plant and can tomatoes along with other vegetables. He kept up with politics and current events, and he enjoyed reading newspapers, history books, and manuals. His biggest and brightest smiles, however, came from time spent with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Maupin Cemetery in Albany, KY. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 6097 at the funeral home.
