Joe Donald Dickson, 62, of Knifley, KY passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Glasgow, KY on November 2, 1961, to the late Donald Dickson and Joyce Goodin Emmitt.
Mr. Dickson was a member of the Lick Branch Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a Firefighter for 32 years serving currently as the Assistant Fire Chief of the Knifley Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a former member of the Bardstown/Nelson County Fire Department, Dry Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, and the Canaanland Quartet. He enjoyed fishing, camping, singing gospel music, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Sheila Strange Dickson of Knifley, KY; three children Tommy Dickson (Annie) of Cane Valley, KY, Andy Dickson (Megan) of Lexington, KY, and Ashley Dickson (Jacob Burton) of Somerset, KY; two grandchildren Oliver and Simon Dickson; three siblings Cheryl Page (Ricky) of Charleston, SC, Mike Steenbergen of Scottsville, KY, and Stacy Thompson (Joey) of Cub Run, KY; an uncle Rollin Dickson (Linda) of Glasgow, KY; a special family friend Marshall Bailey of Glasgow, KY and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Patty Dickson Bailey, his stepfather Chester Emmitt, a brother Joe David Dickson, a niece Courtney Steenbergen, and a nephew Tristan Page.
Graveside services will be 11:00am Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Lick Branch Cemetery in Barren County, KY.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4:00-8:00pm at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses or the WHAS Crusade for Children at 520 W. Chestnut St. Louisville, KY 40202.
