Obituary

David Dewey Scott, 70, of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at T. J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY. Born in Columbia, KY on December 24, 1953, to the late Carl Scott and Allene Absher.

Mr. Scott was a retired Sergeant in the U. S. Army and Kentucky National Guard.  He enjoyed doing mechanic work, woodworking, University of Kentucky basketball, reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include two children David Douglas Scott (Juanita) and Shannon Renee Scott Gadberry both of Columbia, KY; four grandchildren Jonathan Scott (Billie Elizabeth), Corey Scott (Harlie), Anthony Alley (Ashley), and Cody Gadberry; seven great grandchildren Jaden, Rory and Riley Scott, Levi Money, Lanie Wilbanks, and Timree and Layton Alley; two sisters Marlene Flatt (Melvin) of Columbia, KY and Samantha Shepherd of Butler, KY and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, March 25, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Freedom Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 6097.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue Monday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Bro. Shane Gaskins will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Jonathan Scott, Corey Scott, Cody Gadberry, Phillip Cornelison, Brent Pelston, Chris Bragg, and Levi Money.
