Obituary

Bobby Dean Loy, 91, of Columbia, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Bluegrass Way Senior Living in Campbellsville, KY. Born on February 6, 1935, in Fairplay, KY, Bobby lived a long and fulfilling life rooted deeply in Adair County’s community and values. He was cherished for his steadfast work ethic, generosity, and love for his family and friends.

Bobby dedicated four decades of his life as a barber at the Town Barber Shop from 1960 until 2000, providing not just professional service, but also a friendly face and a listening ear to generations of customers and friends. Beyond his career as a barber, he served his community as Adair County Road Supervisor and as a school bus driver for Adair County Schools, roles that reflected his commitment to the safety and well-being of his neighbors.

A proud veteran, Bobby served in the U.S. Army, exemplifying the values of duty and honor that shaped his entire life.

His devotion extended beyond his work and military service to active involvement in local organizations. He was a 50-plus year member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #96, where he developed lifelong friendships and made meaningful contributions. He also served as a past member and president of the Mark Twain Shrine Club, demonstrating a spirit of leadership and fellowship in every aspect of his life.

Bobby’s passions were many. He was an avid golfer who loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and tending to his yard. Most importantly, he cherished any opportunity to spend time with his beloved family and friends. His warmth and good humor brightened countless gatherings, and his legacy of kindness and generosity endures in all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Bobby Loy and his wife Diane of Columbia, KY; his daughter, Cynthia Kay Crider of Dawson Springs, KY; four granddaughters, Samantha Crider, Katherine Crider, Angela Moon, and Patricia Mizell; two great-grandchildren, Kendell Mitchell and Garrett Moon; and his sister, Sheila Taylor (Fred) of Columbia, KY. Each held a special place in his heart and brought him great joy throughout the years.

Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lila Louise Baker Loy; his parents, Broadus and Lida McClister Loy; and his brother, Louie Loy. Their memories remain an enduring comfort to those he leaves behind.
