Barbara Ann Cowan Jones, 75 of Columbia, Kentucky, passed away on July 1, 2026, in Columbia, Kentucky. She was born on August 11, 1950, in Columbia, Kentucky to the late Elvin and Mamie Burton Cowan.
In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Jones; her daughter, Jerri Lynn Jones; and five siblings: Daryl Lynn Cowan, Ricky Cowan, Faye Stotts, Michael Cowan, and Dale Cowan.
A loving mother, Barbara is survived by two children: Mark Jones (Jennifer) of Columbia, Kentucky, and Melissa Armer (David) of Greensburg, Kentucky. Her love extended through generations, as she was a proud grandmother to five and a great-grandmother to six, each holding a special place in her heart and memories.
She is also survived by four siblings Ronnie Cowan, Billy Cowan (Reba), Betty White, and Kay Turner (David). The deep familial bond she shared with her brothers and sisters was evident to all who knew her, and their lives were enriched through her presence in both joyful and challenging times.
Throughout her life, Barbara embodied compassion, resilience, and kindness. Her home was often the gathering place for celebrations, holidays, and quiet family moments. These traditions and her gentle ways will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home and continue Friday morning until time for the service.
Bro. Raymon Atwood will be officiating and pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Trent Jones, Ty Jones, Kevin Foster, Gerald Lucas, and Joe Fair. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ellis Jones and Meyer Jones.
