Alvert Chandler Bennett, 90, of Fairplay, KY went home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 22, 1935, in Adair County to the late Willie Logan and Iva Lee Grant Bennett. 

Chandler was a former logger and farmer, but his main passion was singing for Jesus. Chandler was the last living member of the Bennett family gospel group. They traveled everywhere, singing, and praising Jesus. After the death of his sisters, Chandler continued to play the guitar and sing at many churches in the community. Though his voice got weak and frail his spirit never did he loved Jesus till his very last breath.

He has survived by a nephew by marriage Bobby Stephens; three special great nephews Andy Rupe, Lucas Stephens, Jacob Stephens, and his daughter Claire. Two nephews Tony Thompson and Glenn Harvey. Five nieces Diana Roy, Stacy Corbin, Rosetta Burris, Toni and Kim Scott. Many other family and friends also survive.

Besides his parents, he was proceeded in death by four brothers Vernon, William Zack, Kenneth and Francis Jake Bennett.Six sisters Bernice Rupe, Dora Helen Thompson, Gladys Scott, Doris Bennett, Nannie Harvey and Cathleen Loy. Five nephews Rickey Thompson, David Bennett, Dale Bennett, Don and Ron Bennett. Six nieces Dorothy Stephens, Janice Appleby, April Bunch, Edith Harmon, Nadine Darnell, and Iva Nell Loy.

Funeral service will be 11:00am on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Stotts Phelps McQueary Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 9 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Piner Loy Cemetery. Chandler will always be remembered as a kind, loving Christian man.
