Obituary

ALFRED W. FLOWERS age 87 years of 719 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY passed

away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 12 noon at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in

Greensburg, KY after several months illness.

He was the son of the late: Dr. W.J. & Berenice Rickman Flowers of Adair Co. KY

Mr. Flowers was a retired automobile dealer and retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, he was a member of the Columbia Christian Church where he served as a

Sunday School teacher and officer for many years. He was a US Army Air Corps, World War II veteran serving with the 15th Air Force in Foggia, Italy.

He was a 63 year member of Columbia Lodge # 96, Louisville Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, a member of the Kosair Shrine and a charter member of the Mark Twain Shrine Club, a charter member of the Columbia Fire Department and Past President of the Columbia Rotary Club.

Mr. Flowers was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy Randolph (Randy) Hood Flowers on April 21, 2008, preceded in death by a brother Woodruff Flowers and a sister Mary Flowers Starks.

Survivors include:

Three sons: James R. Flowers & wife: Georgann of Columbia, KY

Robert W. Flowers & wife: Mikki of Columbia, KY

Joseph W. Flowers of Columbia, KY

Three grandchildren:

Lynne F. Spencer, Ann Leslie Flowers and Michael R. Flowers

Four great grandchildren survive, as well as several nephews and a niece.

Funeral service: Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the COLUMBIA CHRISTIAN CHURCH 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY

Clergy officiating: Bro. Terry White & Bro. Raymond Martin

Interment in the Columbia Cemetery with full military honors presented by Columbia

VFW Post 6097

The family request visiting after 4:00 PM on Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home and after 12:00 Noon on Wednesday at the Columbia Christian Church

Masonic rites will be conducted by Columbia Lodge # 96 on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Columbia Christian Church, Kosair Charities or the Salvation Army and may be left at the funeral home.
