Ewing Smiley

Ewing Smiley age 99 years of Columbia, KY passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018

10:55 PM at Fair Oak Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY.

He was born on June 2, 1918 at Garlin, KY in Adair County.

He was the son of the late William Lewis & Della Ann Sullivan Smiley.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lula Pearl Roy Smiley on

May 9, 2013, also preceded in death by two sisters & four brothers,

Malba Combest, Lula Mae Smiley, Alvis Smiley, Donald Smiley,

Benjamin Smiley & Leonard Smiley.

He survived by one daughter:

Linda C. Goodman (husband Clarke) of Columbia, KY

Two sons:

 Dr. Eugene Smiley (wife Beth) of Cincinnati, Ohio

Jerry Smiley (wife Linda) of Parrish, Florida

9 Grandchildren Paul Smiley, Beth Woeber, Mark Smiley, Eve Smiley,

Eric Goodman, Robert Goodman, Troy Smiley, Todd Smiley & Nicole Smiley

 17 Great Grandchildren, special friend Betty Fisher 

several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends survive.

He was a member of Freedom Church of God. He served his country

during World War II in the U.S. Army from Oct. 7, 1941 to Oct. 17, 1945

in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. After the war he married Lula Roy & they raised

their family in Cincinnati, Ohio where he worked at the Cincinnati Union Terminal.

He return to Adair County in 1978 and was a farmer prior to his retirement.

Funeral service Saturday Feb. 10, 2018  at 1:00 P.M.  at

Stotts-Phelps McQueary Funeral Home

Clergy officiating Bro. Carlie Riggs & Scott Allen 

Interment in Freedom Cemetery with full Military Honors presented

by the local VFW Post 6097.
