Bernice Burton Cowan age 88 years of Columbia, KY passed away

Tuesday at 10:20 A.M. at her home.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1928 in Adair County, KY.

The daughter of the late Tim & Mary Jane Burton of Adair County.

Preceded in death by one brother & four sisters, Charles Burton,

Lucille Burton, Loeta Redmon, Madeline Grider & infant Betty Jean Burton.  

She is survived by her husband of 72 years Calvin Cowan of Columbia, KY.

One son:  Ronnie Cowan & his fiancee' Rhonda Akin of Columbia, KY

Four daughters:

Dean (Donnie) Jessie of Columbia, KY

Kay Carter of Columbia, KY

Beverly Miller of Columbia, KY

Teresa (Terry) Rowe Columbia, KY

One brother:

Randall (Judy) Burton of Columbia, KY

Two Sisters:

Phyllis (Donnie) Shirley of Columbia, KY

Joyce Alberta Rodgers of Taylorsville, IN

Special friend Rhonda Akin

Sister-in-law Peggy Burton of Columbia, KY.

11 Grandchildren Randy (Kathy) Carter, Tammy (Shane) Morrison,

Danny (Krishana) Jessie, Johnny (Rita) Carter, Scotty (Kim) Carter

Wayne Carter, Sandra McCloud, Tasha (Jon) Harden, Brian (Janella) Miller,

LeAnna (Josh) Franklin & Keri Rowe & her fiance' Chase Richard.

1 Step-grandson,  17 Great Grandchildren, 4 Step-grandchildren

& 2 Great Great Grandchildren

several nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives & friends  survive.

Bernice was a member of Beawallow United Methodist Church,

had worked at Union Underwear in Campbellsville, Adair Memorial Hospital,

Westlake Regional Hospital, Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown &

Adair County Regional Jail for over 20 years

Funeral service Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary

Funeral Home.

Clergy officiating Rev. Clifton Cowan & Rev. Lewis Burton

Interment in Bearwallow Cemetery

Memorials are suggested to Bearwallow Cemetery and may be left

at the Funeral Home.
